NAMI Gwinnett members and friends,

As you can see from the information below, there are some proposed

changes to the Social Security Disability rules that we all need to

express our feelings about.

First, the are some proposed changes that are very problematic in the

way the SSA determines eligibility for disability benefits. These

proposed changes would have the SSA examiners using "standardized

testing" to determine if people qualify or not. People aren't

"standard"! We don't come cut from one mold and we should expect or

allow ourselves to be treated as such.

As you will see when you read further down on this e-mail, there are

some really good points to the proposed changes but, the negative

changes far outweigh the good.

You can do something about this!

At the bottom of this e-mail you will find suggested comments and

several methods that you may convey your message about these changes,

As always, I suggest that you do not simply cut and paste these

comments but that you put them into your own words, being nice and

politically correct, and send them in using the method of your choice.

Also, notify everyone you know that would be sympathetic to this cause

and ask them to do the same.

Nothing will change unless we initiate the change.

Thanks,

Alan
